Sainsbury’s is pioneering food recycling by investing £9m in establishing five plants over the course of the next two years. It aims to become the first retailer in the UK to fully manage its food waste.

Sainsbury’s, the third largest grocer of the UK, has entered into a joint venture with British food recycling specialist, Biogen-Greenfinch, to develop five sites. Last Saturday, fashion giant Primark’s London store delivered its biggest one day sale in its 39-year history.

The British Airport Authority (BAA) has finally agreed to the appointment of a watchdog who will independently monitor air quality and noise, if it is allowed to operate flights from a third runway at the Heathrow airport.

In its attempts to lure cash strapped customers with cheaper products, Tesco’s sales growth touched it’s lowest since mid-1990s.
